Prolog Print Media have just supported Network Rail to realise a return-on-investment from their e-payslip service in only four months.
Network Rail who own and operate Britain’s rail infrastructure – employing 35,000 people across the UK – began implementing e-payslips with Prolog Print Media in 2010. Like many organisations, Network Rail monitors expenditure and always seeks best value from the items they procure and so sought to migrate employees to e-payslips in a drive to reduce the six figure annual spend on payslip postage.
By working with Prolog Print Media in a matter of months Network Rail were able to implement a secure web-based e-payslip Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) which any employee with an internet connection at work or home can view.
The Prolog Print Media e-payslip SaaS presents pay data for multiple payrolls from Network Rail’s three payroll systems in one payslip design. This has enabled Network Rail to consolidate designs and to also include details of how pay has been calculated – such as time and attendance figures – to aid clarity and reduce query handling.
From the outset Network Rail decided on a phased approach to e-payslips, providing employees both e-payslips and paper payslips with the option to turn-off paper. This has proved a successful strategy gaining immediate support from Trade Unions and was made possible by Prolog Print Media being able to handling both e-payslip presentation and the print and distribution of paper payslips.
Prolog Print Media Managing Director, Glyn King comments: “Often when we implement e-payslips organisations are cautious about how employees will respond to the change from paper to e-pay. The response from Network Rail employees has been really positive with over 20,000 activating their e-payslip accounts to date and we are delighted that Network Rail has already seen a reduction in their payslip postage spend by almost 50 per cent per month – contributing to an amazing return-on-investment from the project in just four months.”
