Pressure Sealing Machine Questions?

1. General questions

  • What is pressure seal?
Pressure Seal is a system comprised of a one page self-sealing document and/or a folder sealer for sealing the document. The form is sealed though a process of folding the form on a pressure seal folder/sealer. Once folded, the document travels through a series of sealing rollers inside the folder/sealer. These rollers apply pressure to the form, which activates the cohesive and in turn creates a secure 'fibre tear' seal.

We shortlist the solutions which match your needs and then shortlist again to find the product which meets your budget. Call 01246 543000 and speak to a member of our pressure sealing team who will discuss your needs and be happy to provide an on-site demonstration of a pressure sealing machine at your office.

  • Does Prolog Print Media manufacture or develop pressure sealing technology?
No we don't manufacture or develop pressure sealing technology. Our job is to understand those who do. We gather intelligence and knowledge on the latest developments and solutions and combine this information with our experience of working with payroll departments. We then deliver advise, implement and support our customers to purchase the best pressure sealing machine for them.

2. The business case for pressure sealing

  • How will moving to pressure seal improve what I do?
The benefits of pressure seal are clear, tangible and immediate. The most significant benefits, faster payroll runs, fewer interruptions or jams and considerably higher print quality.

  • Is there a minimum number of documents I should produce to make pressure seal viable?
Pressure sealing machines are available from a desktop footprint to a computer room environment, sealing 200 to 20,000 documents an hour. When recommending a pressure seal solution we consider the volume you produce in a typical month and expected volume in the coming year, to advise on the suitability of pressure seal against these figures.

  • How quickly will my pressure sealing machine show a return-on-investment?
Pressure Seal, is an investment, but saying this, many of our customers report that it pays dividends usually in the very first year. If used across other departments needless to say the return time can be even sooner.

3. Implementation

  • How can we convert to pressure seal if our current software or hardware is not compatible?
There are many compatible hardware and software solutions available in the market today. As pressure sealing specialists we can source the best ones for your needs as well as manage the installation process.

  • How long will it take to implement pressure seal?
Implementation can take between five days and three months depending on the need for bespoke programming. Most systems are up and running in six to eight weeks.

  • How much downtime will there be?
Your new systems can be set up and used for practice and familiarisation while your old system is still live. Switching over is as easy as turning on your computer so no downtime is incurred.

  • How do I make sure everyone understands and supports the move to pressuer seal?
We work closely with your team to ensure they all understand and fully support your pressure sealing solution so you don't need to. We hold group or one-on-one training sessions. Each team member is invited to do a practice run so we can watch and address anything they are unsure about. We also give your team a dedicated helpline through to our pressure seal support staff. who are highly trained in pressure sealing technology. This combination of knowledge means there's no question we can't answer.

4. Paper and printing

  • Can any paper be used on pressure sealing applications?
No. Only specific papers are compatible with pressure sealing machinery. Use of alternative papers such as coated stock is possible but should be tested.

  • What kind of documents can I use with pressure seal?
Any document that is placed and mailed in an envelope can be considered for pressure sealing. Why not send Prolog Print Media a sample of a document you are reviewing and we will advise on the best pressure sealing form possible.

  • What is Simplex and Duplex?
Simplex is one-sided printing. Duplex is two-sided printing. These are typically discussed only in sheet fed laser printer applications however, high-end continuous fed laser printer installations can print on both sides of a form as well.

  • What is the shelf life of the pressure seal form?
If you store your paper correctly normal shelf life is up to a year.

  • Does a pressure seal form cost more to post?
No. A pressure seal form when sealed creates a 'DL' (99mm x 210mm) size envelope. This comes under standard letter size postage rates and is a preferred size for automated processing by Royal Mail.

5. Training and after-sales support

  • What training is required to operate a pressure sealing machine?
Pressure sealing technology requires you to have 'photocopier' user type skills only and therefore little training is required.

  • What happens once the pressure sealing machine is implemented, what could go wrong?
Once your new pressure sealing machine is up and running, any problems are usually because something hasn't been done correctly and these can be sorted out quickly over the phone. Our helpdesk is open during office hours and our pressure seal team are always happy to answer any questions you might have, however small.
